Vijitha Sathiaseelan graduated from Boston
University, Massachusetts, USA with a first degree in
Biological Sciences in 2002. She then took up a
position at Channing lab, Brigham and Womens
hospital to train as a biologist. Later, to further her
interest in the Biotechnology field, she obtained a
MSc in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology from
University of Massachusetts, USA in 2004.
She has worked on a number of research projects
investigating the molecular basis for T cell lineage
commitment at University of Massachusetts, Medical
school, USA. Thereafter, she moved to Massachusetts
General hospital and worked at the center for
molecular therapeutics, investigating better ways to
match individual cancer patients with particular
targeted drug therapies in order to maximize the
likelihood of a clinical response. Vijitha then moved to
the UK and worked at Domantis (GSK), Cambridge,
where she joined a team working on creating domain
antibodies against multiple myeloma and
simultaneously worked on a project looking at
targeting stem cells to the site of myocardial
infraction. Currently she works at Dundee University
as part of a team to research ways of optimizing
delivery of therapeutic siRNA into human skin.
