I grew up in Milton Keynes Buckinghamshire and was
educated at Bedford Modern School. I left school with
Physics, Biology and Chemistry A-levels in summer
2007, I then had a gap year before starting my BSc
Physics degree in September 2008. My natural
curiosity drove my interest in physics with a
particular passion for astrophysics. During my gap
year I spent the summer working on a lake, and
getting in as much windsurfing as possible. Then I
worked in a department store until January 2008
when I left for a 10 week ski instructor’s course in
Alberta Canada where I qualified as a CSIA level 2
skiing instructor. In summer 2009 I did a 10 week
research placement with the university, working on
energy minimisation modelling using soap films,
supervised by Paul Campbell. I am currently in
between second and third year in my course doing
my second research placement at the university
continuing work on energy minimisation models.
